Gooseberry Beach Hot Process Soap - Salt Water, Kelp, Bamboo... Limited Edition, Coconut-Free Formula
Gooseberry Beach Hot Process Soap
Balmy salt water, sea kelp & spirulina algae, crisp bamboo & a trace of coolness from wet, dark sand
Not a tropical, fruity beach scent but deep & cool & briny, Gooseberry Beach is named for a tiny enclave on Newport Island that we visited last summer. It's a small arc of sand in a protected inlet, ringed by huge rounded boulders & picturesque seaside mansions. The water is calm & the bottom smooth, perfect for little legs to explore. We spent hours digging in the grey sand, haring up & down the water line & dodging the curtains of red seaweed & kelp that floated in the shallows. It was a perfect pause in what had been a wonderful but busy holiday, & we lingered in the waves almost until sunset.
Gooseberry Beach gets a new hot process treatment this year, with gently scrubby gluten-free oats, bright spirulina algae, & a line of activated charcoal. It's gentle & fresh, just right for salt-ravaged skin...
This listing is for one (1) enormous 5-ounce bar of hot process soap, made from scratch by me in my own workshop. If you find glycerin soaps a bit too drying, this is the bar for you. I've spent several months developing a coconut- & shea-free, vegan formula that lathers beautifully & is packed with nourishing vegetable oils & butters. I make my hot process soap in small batches, & allow each batch to cure for 3 weeks to ensure a firm, mild bar. Each hand-cut bar measures 3x3x1 inches, & weighs approximately 5 ounces.
As always, your soap will arrive hand-wrapped, with all ingredients clearly labeled for your peace of mind:
Water, Olive Oil, Organic & Sustainable Palm Oil, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Mango Seed Butter, Castor Oil, Organic Palm Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Fragrance Oil, Gluten-free Oats, Spirulina, Activated Charcoal, Sea Salt
Since I work in small batches, you may notice slight variations in color from bar to bar. Hot process soap has a marbled, natural appearance. Streaks, swirls & blobs are all part of the charm, & in no way affect the quality of your soap :)

A different beastie from the glycerin version

And unlike any beachy scent I've ever smelled. The brininess and seaweed almost evoke sushi for me---but not in a foodie scent way. It's incredible! And the bamboo overwhelmed the glycerin version a bit in my experience, but here is in perfect balance with the other notes.

Normally, I avoid things with a "fresh" description that have water in the notes. Because, to me, they either smell like an old lady's medicine cabinet or horrible baby powder. But this, this is perfection. It really does remind me of the sea - it smells the same as that lovely green/aqua color looks.
