Hex on the Beach Shaving Soap
Writhing, shea-rubbed bodies casting fevered shadows against blazing firelight on a midnight shore
The last of the late summer tourists were firmly gated on the final ferry to the mainland, the gift shops & sidewalk cafes shuttered, & the signs in B&B gardens turned resolutely to NO VACANCY, & the witches of Rock Island stood on the pebbly beach, waved to the pilot, & sighed in relief. As the October sun slipped below the horizon, hands set to work gathering driftwood from the low dunes, & soon a devilish fire was kindled in the sand, using neither match nor lighter. Cups were passed around, someone adding a slosh of peach schnapps, another a squirt of orange juice, vodka appearing from thin air, and before long the wholesome facade of the working season was stripped away, along with unnecessary glasses, clumsy work boots, tiresome clothing... The witches, stripped naked, kneaded scented shea into each other's skin and, with some amount of giggling anticipation, chanted the seductive words to invite power back to the island shores. The flames rose, bodies moved, someone threw sandalwood chips into the fire, & pulses quickened. The power, it was coming. Coming, coming, coming. It was almost there, sliding luminous over the waves & up the still-warm sand, coiling up quivering legs & parting bare thighs.
On the darkened dock of the mainland, the ferry pilot sat leaning back in an old kitchen chair, watching the flickering point of orange light far out near the black horizon, bit her lip, & shivered.
This listing is for a generous 4-ounce round of my luxurious glycerin soap, fortified with ultrafine bentonite clay for a smooth, comfortable shave. I use a hefty, round mold that sits handsomely in a shaving bowl, or you can lather up with your hands. The end result? Huge, stable lather, great slip & delicious scents to get you soft, smooth & ready for action. I hand cast in small batches with no SLS, propylene glycol, parabens, animal products or other funny stuff! Most of my fragrances are phthalate-free, too. My bars produce gorgeous, abundant lather & have unique scents that cling gently to your skin. You'll be left feeling clean & smelling fantastic.
I hand-wrap each bar in cellophane, with all ingredients clearly labeled for your peace of mind:
Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Oil, Glycerin (kosher, of vegetable origin), Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), Sorbitan oleate (emulsifer), Oat Protein (conditioner), Fragrance Oil, Bentonite, Titanium Dioxide, Mica
