A Southern Appalachian Gothic tale fifteen years in the making... From the moment I first heard The Raconteurs' Carolina Drama, I have been haunted by that world of violence, betrayal, & uncertainty. The claustrophobic weight of the air, the desperation born out of existing on the hardest of margins, growing up in the shadow of other people's bad choices to inevitably make ones far worse. Billy is the central figure of the story, but I have always wanted to know about his mother, about the woman at the center of this catastrophe, the trail of misfortune that brought her to this bloody moment, and the crushing horror of her sins written indelibly on her sons' lives forever. I can see moments in my own life that could have led me down a similarly terrible road, had I been less able to resist. So this scent is for her, a sad, sweet blend of honeysuckle & jasmine suffocated in oakmoss, cold milk, & the musky tang of blood.
