My love of rhubarb is somewhat legendary among the vendors at our local farmers' market... As soon as the weather even begins to hint at spring, I'm there, scanning the stands & making pleading eyes at the farmers, begging for any inside scoop on when the first ruby red stalks will make their appearance. When they finally do, I buy it all. ALL OF IT. Great leafy tart smelling armloads of it. I make rhubarb jam, rhubarb crumble, rhubarb pie, rhubarb compote, rhubarb ALL THE THINGS. What we can't eat right away gets chopped & frozen for a few weeks, just until the first local strawberries appear, then it's off to the races again with strawberry rhubarb jam, strawberry rhubarb pie, strawberry rhubarb fool... you get the idea. Rhuby captures that bright red fruitiness of spring & softens the edges with rose-scented whipped cream & a sprinkle of lemon zest.

To use as a hair oil, roll lightly into the palm of your hand, then apply with your hands or fingers as desired. For best results, concentrate on the ends of your hair, rather than the scalp.

To use as a perfume oil, apply directly to pulse points, taking care to avoid irritated, broken, or inflamed skin. I always recommend testing a small amount on the inside of your elbow before committing to a full slathering.
